Roasted Maple and Rosewood Stratocaster Guitar Neck Unfinished Paddle Headstock with Skunk Stripe
Here we have a stunning baked maple Stratocaster neck with a Rosewood fretboard and skunk stripe. The Rosewood used in our necks has an excellent grain and colour. We have decided to leave this neck unfinished and with a half-paddle headstock to allow you to have more flexibility with your project. All of our necks also come with bone nuts and a two-way truss rod installed.
We would recommend a boiled linseed oil finish on the neck like this to get a really fast-playing smooth finish.
With this neck, we decided to go with a 2 piece construction as this further enhances the stability of the roasted maple making an ultra-stable neck.
What is Roasted Maple?Â
Our roasted maple necks undergo a special kiln drying process which involves heating the wood to over 200 degrees in a special kiln, removing the moisture from the wood. This process vulcanizes the wood, making it stronger. The big advantage is that after this process, the wood becomes much less susceptible to moisture and climate changes, resulting in a more stable and predictable piece of wood. This is great for necks, especially, and will minimize the need for adjustments between seasons and different weather conditions. An extra added bonus from this process is that, while stabilizing figured maple, which is typically not so stable, it also greatly enhances the colour and figure in the wood. The finished product usually looks stunning, has improved tone and increased sustain!
This neck is perfect as an upgrade as if you are building your own parts caster. No expense has been spared in terms of the materials used in this amazing neck.
Please note:Â Unfinished roasted maple can appear lighter than expected as it is the finish that really shows its darker colour off.
