Tune one string at a time
Mute the other strings with your picking hand and use a firm, even pluck. Let the first pick attack settle, then make small adjustments while the note rings.

Play one clear note
Choose Guitar mode for a six-string target or Chromatic mode for any note. Enable your microphone, pluck one string cleanly, then tune until the needle reaches the centre and the readout says In Tune.

Flat means the string is below its target pitch and needs tightening. Sharp means it is above the target and should be loosened. Approach the final pitch from below.
A cent is one hundredth of a semitone. Zero cents is exact; within about five cents is the tuner's clear centre zone for normal guitar tuning.
Move away from fans or speakers, reduce excessive gain, mute unused strings and pluck nearer the neck pickup. Old strings and strong overtones can also confuse any tuner.
