Product Details:
Body:
We use hand-selected Alder for all of our bodies, ensuring excellent structural integrity and a consistent resonance throughout. We aim to make sure all of our Strat alder bodies are around the 2.4kg mark, as through our testing, we have found this to be the ideal weight – offering excellent resonance whilst ensuring the guitar isn’t too heavy for live use.
Neck:
Our pro-series unfinished half-paddle neck features a more modern 12″ fretboard radius and uses our pro-series fret installation technique that allows for perfectly spherical rounded fret ends.
We also use stainless steel frets on all of our pro-series necks so your frets won’t wear away over time!
These necks are unfinished and with a half-paddle headstock to allow you to have more flexibility with your project. All of our necks also come with bone nuts and a two-way truss rod installed. We would recommend a boiled linseed oil finish on these necks to get a fast-playing smooth finish. Almost any finish can be used though. The neck is also fine left unfinished. With this neck, we decided to go with a 2 piece construction as this further enhances the stability of the roasted maple making an ultra-stable neck.
What is Roasted Maple?Â
Our roasted maple necks undergo a special kiln drying process which involves heating the wood to over 200 degrees in a special kiln, removing the moisture from the wood. This process vulcanizes the wood, making it stronger. The big advantage is that after this process, the wood becomes much less susceptible to moisture and climate changes, resulting in a more stable and predictable piece of wood. This is great for necks, especially, and will minimize the need for adjustments between seasons and different weather conditions. An extra added bonus from this process is that, while stabilizing figured maple, which is typically not so stable, it also greatly enhances the colour and figure in the wood. The finished product usually looks stunning, has improved tone and increased sustain!
