CTS Potentiometers – 250K / 500K (Logarithmic & Linear Taper)
CTS pots are the long-established, number one choice for reliable guitar electronics. Made in the USA and built to tight tolerances, they offer a smooth, predictable sweep and stable resistance values. Ideal for rewires, upgrades, and new builds where dependable control is required.
This model uses a 6 mm knurled split shaft with a 24-tooth fine spline and a 9.5 mm threaded brass bushing. The rotation is clean and consistent, with minimal mechanical noise.
Logarithmic vs Linear – What’s the Difference?
-
Logarithmic (A Taper) pots are designed to follow the way the human ear responds to volume. The change occurs more gradually at first, then more noticeably further into the rotation. This gives a natural, usable volume curve.
-
Linear (B Taper) pots increase resistance evenly across the turn. This provides a more progressive, controlled sweep, often preferred for tone controls or players who want predictable adjustment from 0–10.
Available Versions
-
250K Logarithmic (A Taper): Standard choice for single-coil pickups.
-
250K Linear (B Taper): Even, progressive sweep for finer control.
-
500K Logarithmic (A Taper): Helps maintain brightness with humbuckers and higher-output pickups.
-
500K Linear (B Taper): Smooth, consistent response across the full rotation.
